For many people, the Canadian teen TV drama Degrassi: The Next Generation was a big part of their upbringing and taught them about a variety of challenging life topics. Now, a bunch of the original cast members reunited to celebrate the show's legacy as the new documentary, Degrassi: Whatever It Takes, finally premiered.
On Sept. 13, at the Toronto International Film Festival, actors Miriam McDonald, Shane Kippel, Ephraim Ellis and Melinda Shankar came together at the world premiere of the documentary film, posing for a nostalgic photo.
In a red carpet photo together, McDonald, who played Emma Nelson on the show, looked elegant in a dark-colored minidress, while Kippel, who played Gavin "Spinner" Mason, wore a chic blue suit.

Ellis, who portrayed Rick Murray in the show, looked equally put-together in a dark green suit, while Shankar, who was Alli Bhandari in Degrassi, rocked a leather skirt and jacket with a patterned scarf around her neck.
Many More Degrassi Alums Were Also at the Premiere
While fans who tuned in to the early run of Degrassi: The Next Generation and beyond are most likely to recognize the four actors who posed together in the previous photo, there were also many other stars of the franchise in attendance, including a few from earlier Degrassi shows.
Dayo Ade, who started his acting career when he joined Degrassi High in 1988, was there, as were his fellow cast members Colleen Lam and twins Maureen and Angela Deiseach. There was also Stacie Mistysyn and Amanda Stepto, who both starred in Degrassi High and Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Degrassi: The Next Generation stars Shanice Banton and Melissa DiMarco.

The new film, Degrassi: Whatever It Takes, takes a look back on the franchise and how groundbreaking it was, always focusing on controversial yet inclusive storylines. It features interviews with many of the original cast members, including rapper Drake, who played Jimmy Brooks in the show, and others who weren't at the premiere, like Jake Epstein, Shenae Grimes-Beech, and Stefan Brogren.
While the film premiered at TIFF, there is no word yet on how or when it will be distributed.
