How does one maintain a healthy marriage while serving as the head of the free world?

Former President Barack Obama just revealed that he has been "digging himself out of a hole" with wife Michelle Obama after his political career overshadowed their family life at the White House, Daily Mail reports.

The 44th U.S. president, 64, was interviewed by historian David Olusoga in London Wednesday night.

"Now I'm at about level ground," Barack, 64, told an audience at The O2 Arena.

Fans began speculating about the couple when Michelle, 61, didn't attend President Donald Trump's inauguration in January alongside her husband, as Us Weekly noted. She also didn't appear at former President Jimmy Carter's funeral that same month.

Barack and Michelle got hitched way back in 1992. They share daughters Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24.

The power couple were seen together for the first time in two months in Portofino, Italy, aboard their friend Steven Spielberg's yacht over the weekend, Daily Mail noted on Thursday, September 25.

According to the British tabloid, this marked the first time they had been seen together since they sat down for a joint interview on Michelle's podcast in July — where they addressed the state of their marriage.

"There hasn't been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quitting my man," Michelle said on the episode.

Earlier this month, the former president paid tribute on social media to Hollywood legend Robert Redford, honoring the actor, director and environmental activist following his recent passing at age 89.

"We're deeply saddened by the passing of Robert Redford – a storyteller, trailblazer, and advocate whose life's work went far beyond the screen," the Obama Foundation wrote in its Instagram caption.

The foundation posted two photos of the former president and Redford back in 2016, when the filmmaker was the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his efforts in film and environmental activism.
