Tim McGraw is still thinking about the family member whom he lost one year ago. The country music superstar's uncle, Henry Thomas McGraw, affectionately known as "Hank," passed away last year on July 10, 2024. He was 81 years old.
In a brand new post on social media on Friday, Sept. 26, McGraw, 58, shared a rare family portrait featuring himself posing and smiling alongside his brothers, Mark and Matthew, and his uncle. In the snapshot, McGraw is seen wearing winter gear, including a beanie, a black jacket, and blue jeans. His brothers match him, wearing darker clothing while looking as though they're having the time of their lives.

Fans Flooded the Comments Section With Messages of Sympathy
"My brothers and me with uncle Hank. We lost Hank last year. Miss him every day," McGraw simply captioned the Instagrammed photo, which earned several sympathetic comments from fans and followers.
"Great photo, looks like you guys made some wonderful memories. I'm sorry for your loss. ❤️," one person wrote while another follower added, "Great picture. You can feel the joy!"
A third person simply wrote, "Thoughts and prayers."
Known as "the patriarch of the McGraw family," Hank was born in 1943. He grew up playing sports and spent time as a catcher for the New York Mets. Similarly, McGraw's late biological father, Tug McGraw — Hank's brother — also played professional baseball and was a World Series Champion, who played for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies.
Tim McGraw Previously Honored His Uncle
Following Hank's 2024 death, McGraw turned to Instagram, sharing a lengthy but heartfelt post that highlighted his relative's personality and strengths and how much of an impact he had on everyone in the McGraw family.
"This weekend, we lost the patriarch of the McGraw family. Our beloved 'Uncle Hank,'" the "Something Like That" singer wrote. "He was just an incredible man. He had a way of lighting up any room he walked into without trying. He was a no-bs, straight shooter. Honest and truthful, even if it hurts. A true renaissance man, All American high school athlete, 11 years professional baseball, played guitar, sang beautifully, was an incredible leather and bead craftsman, and more than that, he was a good friend to all who knew him, and he loved with an open heart…"

"Aw man, and he told the best stories!" McGraw continued, elaborating on Hank's role in the family, noting, "He was and continues to be a huge presence in the lives of our family and his friends. He was a legend, and that legend will grow with each passing year in future generations of McGraws!"
McGraw went on to promise to keep Hank's memories and legacy alive. And, judging by his latest post, he has kept his word on that.
"We will keep his memories alive!! He loved, he was so very loved, and he will be terribly missed," he captioned, concluding his tribute to his beloved uncle. "So much more to say about him…. But I will stop for now. ❤️ U Uncle!!"
