Nancy Guthrie: Investigators keep pursuing one clue to crack caseRob Taub Tue, November 3, 2026 at 3:37 AM UTC

(NewsNation) — It's been nine months since Nancy Guthrie disappeared, but one retired FBI agent is steadfast that investigators will not stop trying to crack the case based on one specific clue.
The Pima County, Arizona Sheriff's Office recently said investigators are using DNA evidence in an effort to solve the case.
However, sources close to the investigation told NewsNation's Brian Entin that authorities are still pursuing leads and have yet to uncover any solid breakthroughs.

Investigators believe they have viable evidence: Retired FBI agent
Steve Moore, however, said the fact that the Pima County authorities sent detectives to Florida to meet with lab scientists directly suggests investigators believe the evidence they have is viable.
"Why a call wasn't sufficient probably is indicative of the fact that there are complicated scientific issues that they need to see," Moore said.
Moore did not rule out the possibility that the DNA evidence is mixed, a factor that could further complicate the investigation for detectives.

"It doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be probative, that it's going to make the case," he said.
"But it means they probably have some unidentified DNA or partial DNA, and they're trying to determine the best way to leverage it to see if it's viable or not."

“The world goes on, things appear ‘normal’ — as we try to keep going and be strong, especially for our young kids — but it’s not and it never will be,” she said in a post on X.
Investigators believe Nancy Guthrie, 84, was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona, home during the early morning hours of Feb. 1. Authorities have been treating her disappearance as a kidnapping-for-ransom case. Months later, no suspects have been publicly identified, and Guthrie has still not been found.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
