Movie premieres double as date nights for Sir Ben Kingsley and his wife Daniela Lavender.
At the U.K. premiere of his new movie The Thursday Murder Club — held, fittingly, on Aug. 21, a Thursday — the Oscar winner, 81, made a rare public appearance with Lavender, 50, a Brazilian actress.
Kingsley looked spiffy in a midnight blue tuxedo with a deep purple tie, while his date wore a beaded halterneck gown in a striking silver with matching earrings and accessories.
The English actor met Lavender in 2006 and tied the knot with her in 2007. "It is a perfectly-balanced relationship, which like scales, includes its swings," he commented at the time to the BBC. Their wedding ceremony was "blissfully private and beautiful," he added. "We had a lovely lunch on the lawn. It was very simple and very happy."

The stage and screen actress was previously married from 1996 to 2003. Kingsley has three previous marriages, sharing his four children with first wife, actress Angela Morant, and second wife, director Alison Sutcliffe.
Kingsley is also a grandfather several times over, as he confirmed in a 2024 interview with The Guardian. "I recently had a wonderful birthday party organized by my darling Daniela," the Gandhi star shared at the time. "All my children and grandchildren were present. It was an extraordinarily beautiful occasion. I was delighted to see how easily I communicate with my grandchildren. There is a connection between us that I'm grateful for."
Lavender has accompanied Kingsley at several Vanity Fair Oscar parties in recent years, rubbing shoulders with Hollywood A-listers. At the Aug. 21 premiere, Kingsley was photographed greeting Thursday Murder Club director Chris Columbus and Steven Spielberg, whose production company Amblin Entertainment is among the movie's producers.

In The Thursday Murder Club (premiering on Netflix Aug. 28), Kingsley plays Ibrahim Arif, one of a quartet of elderly amateur sleuths solving crimes in a retirement village along with Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Celia Imrie. The crime comedy, costarring David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce and Naomi Ackie, is adapted from Richard Osman's hit 2020 novel of the same name.
Osman has since released The Man Who Died Twice in 2021, The Bullet That Missed in 2022 and The Last Devil to Die in 2023. A fifth installment, The Impossible Fortune, will hit bookshelves next month.
The Thursday Murder Club begins streaming on Netflix Aug. 28.
