LOS ANGELES -Grammy-winning American singer Lil Nas X was arrested early on Thursday morning after charging at law enforcement officers, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said.
The reported assault occurred after the "Old Town Road" rapper was spotted walking in his underwear in Studio City, California, the spokesperson said.
Lil Nas X was taken to the hospital for treatment for a possible overdose, the spokesperson said.
Police records showed the rapper was arrested at 6:10 a.m. and was being held in jail in Van Nuys, California, on Thursday afternoon.
Lil Nas X, whose given name is Montero Lamar Hill, was the first openly gay man to receive a Country Music Association award for his song "Old Town Road." He also earned two Grammys for the song.
