President Donald Trump is meeting face-to-face with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the final day of Trump's trip to Asia, a chance for the leaders of the world's two largest economies to stabilize relations after months of turmoil over trade issues.

Trump's aggressive use of tariffs since returning to the White House for a second term combined with China's retaliatory limits on exports of rare earth elements have given the meeting newfound urgency. There is a mutual recognition that neither side wants to risk blowing up the world economy in ways that could jeopardize their own country's fortunes.

Aboard Air Force One on his way to South Korea, Trump told reporters he may reduce tariffs that he placed on China earlier this year related to its role in making fentanyl.

"I expect to be lowering that because I believe that they're going to help us with the fentanyl situation," Trump said, later adding, "The relationship with China is very good."

The meeting is in Busan, South Korea, a port city about 76 kilometers (47 miles) south from Gyeongju, the main venue for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

Here's the latest:

Trump-Xi meeting is underway

The two leaders welcomed the press in for brief introductory remarks but now are talking behind closed doors flanked by their top officials.

Journalists left the meeting room shortly after 11:15 a.m. local time in Busan.

Trump said he and Xi could meet for as long as three hours. The official White House schedule, however, has the meeting running just under two hours.

Xi says US and China should be 'partners and friends' despite 'frictions'

The Chinese leader spoke for longer than Trump in his opening remarks, saying "it feels very warm seeing you again because it's been many years."

"We do not always see eye to eye with each other," Xi said through a translator, adding that "it is normal for the two leading economies of the world to have frictions now and then."

However, he said, China and the U.S. "are fully able to help each other succeed and prosper together."

Trump and Xi convene their bilateral meeting

Shortly after their handshake, Trump and Xi moved to a room to hold their talks.

"It's an honor to be with a friend of mine," Trump said of Xi. He said the two will be having some discussions, but "I think we've already agreed to a lot of things."

Accompanying Trump were trade representative Jamieson Greer, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles and David Perdue, the U.S. ambassador to China.

Trump announces nuclear weapon tests

There was no indication that the U.S. would start detonating warheads, and the military already regularly tests its missiles and other equipment.

The president suggested changes were necessary because other countries were testing their weapons. Russia has announced multiple tests recently.

Trump wrote on social media while en route to Busan that the Pentagon will "start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis" and "that process will begin immediately."

The White House did not immediately respond to questions seeking more details.

Man may have killed his 4 children over several months, North Carolina sheriff says

A North Carolina man who allegedly confessed to killing four of his children earlier this week appeared to have spread the murders over a period of several months, authorities said on Oct. 29.

Wellington Delano Dickens III, 38, was charged with four counts of murder on Oct. 28 and was being held without bond, according to court records obtained by USA TODAY and the Johnston County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office said Dickens had called 911 on the night of Oct. 27 and admitted to killing children.

Deputies responded to a residence in Zebulon, a rural town about 25 miles east of Raleigh, and encountered Dickens, who told them that his 3-year-old son was inside the house and that four of his other children were dead inside the trunk of a vehicle in his garage, the sheriff's office said in a statement.

North Carolina authorities: Father confessed to killing his 4 children found in car trunk

Deputies found the 3-year-old boy alive and unharmed in the residence, according to the sheriff's office. Investigators believe Dickens killed three of his biological children — ages 6, 9, and 10 — as well as his 18-year-old stepchild, the sheriff's office said.

The arrest warrants filed against Dickens indicated that the four children were killed on May 1. But during a news conference on Oct. 29, Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell said investigators now believe that the children had died in separate incidents over several months.

Bizzell said no motive has been identified, "but as the sheriff, as a father and as a grandfather, I can stand here and say there's no reason for a father to murder his children." The sheriff noted that the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be filed in the case.

Online court records show that Dickens appeared in court on Oct. 28 and Oct. 29 for hearings on the murder counts. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 13, according to court records.

Sheriff: Investigators believe children died between May and September

Bizzell said at the news conference that authorities received a 911 call at around 10:09 p.m. local time Oct. 27 from Dickens, who stated that he had killed four of his children.

Dickens "pretty much called and said, 'I'm here with my little 3-year-old son. I killed my four children. Their bodies were in the trunk of the car. I'll be glad to go outside and wait for deputies. I'm not armed. I'm just ready to do what's right,'" according to Bizzell.

When deputies arrived at the residence, Sheriff's Capt. Don Pate said they smelled an odor that was "obvious of decay." Pate added that the home was not well-kept, and there was evidence that someone had attempted to clean up the crime scene.

After responding deputies located Dickens and his 3-year-old son, Bizzell said a preliminary investigation revealed that the human remains found in the vehicle's trunk had been there "for some time." The department of social services also respond to the scene and took the 3-year-old boy for medical evaluation, according to Bizzell.

Investigators then obtained a search warrant and determined that Leah Dickens, 6, was the first child to be killed in May of this year, the sheriff said. Bizzell identified the other children as Zoe Dickens, 9, who died in August; Wellington Dickens, 10, who died in late August or early September; and Sean Brasfield, 18, who was killed in September.

The North Carolina Bureau of Investigation and the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are assisting the Johnston County Sheriff's Office in the investigation. Bizzell added that the state medical examiner's office was conducting autopsies to determine how the children died.

Children were in 'conditions that are unimaginable'

Investigators canvased the Dickens' neighborhood on Oct. 28 and interviewed neighbors, according to Bizzell. Investigators learned that the children had been homeschooled.

"It appeared there wasn't a lot of activity at the house," the sheriff said. "I guess the father and the kids were living in the house, and they're in conditions that are unimaginable."

Pate said he believed the family was "very secluded" and Dickens' extended family was not allowed to visit the children.

"They just stayed inside," according to Pate. "The neighbors said they never saw them come outside, and they were homeschooled, so they were just confined to the house."

Court records for the estate of Dickens' wife, Stephanie Rae Jones Dickens, show that she died in April 2024, and the couple's five children continued to live in their Zebulon residence. Jones Dickens had "passed away suddenly at her home," according to her obituary.

Bizzell confirmed on Oct. 29 that deputies had responded to the couple's home on April 21, 2024, to assist emergency medical services after Jones Dickens was found dead by her husband. At the time of the incident, Jones Dickens was three months pregnant and had "experienced excessive bleeding the night prior but refused to go for medical treatment," Bizzell said.

Investigators later determined that Jones Dickens died of complications from a miscarriage, and doctors ruled her death as natural, according to the sheriff. Dickens' wife died just over a year following his father's death after his vehicle struck a box truck in Lee County, North Carolina, court records show.

Dickens' great uncle Charles Moore told WRAL-TV on Oct. 28 that Dickens was an Iraq War veteran and that he last saw Dickens about a year ago. Moore said Dickens "seemed fine" at the time, the television station reported.

Catherine Corcoran, the star of an infamous scene from the first entry in the bloody *Terrifier *franchise, is suing the film's producers, alleging fraud and sexual harassment.

A lawsuit filed in California federal court on Sunday and obtained by * *characterizes Corcoran's alleged ordeal as "an all-too-common story of low budget film producers taking advantage of a young actress," and failing to make good on their contractual commitment to Corcoran's continued compensation now that the ultra-low-budget franchise has become an uber- profitable Hollywood success.

The major claims contained within Corcoran's lawsuit allege that producer Phil Falcone, director Damien Leone, and three production companies behind the film agreed that Corcoran would receive one percent of the profits from any and all *Terrifier *films and related merchandise, having compromised on a low daily rate of the Screen Actors Guild's $100 daily minimum. Additionally, the complaint claims that Falcone and Leone failed to obtain written consent from Corcoran before several nude scenes — a direct violation of another stipulation in her contract.

Corcoran played a secondary but significant role in the first *Terrifier *film, which was released in 2016. Her Dawn Emerson is the best friend of protagonist Tara Heyes (Jenna Kanell). After Tara is finally captured by the franchise's arch-villain, Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton), he tortures her by forcing her to watch him suspend Dawn upside down by her ankles and saw her in half.

The lawsuit documents some of the extreme details of the scene's specs, including "long hours in below freezing temperatures in condemned buildings, all without heat and some without bathrooms," Leone allegedly "placing prosthetics with actual rat feces on Corcoran's skin and real duct tape over her mouth," and a "long, painful process" to unstick Corcoran from a piece of plywood she'd been made to lie on to create a silicone body cast.

Corcoran claims Leone and Falcone never received her written consent to film that scene in the nude, and though they acquiesced when she pushed them to be able to don underwear, they told her she was "required" to shoot topless. She also alleges that Falcone did not obtain her consent to take "numerous still photographs" of her nude body while she was glued to the plywood.

The complaint additionally notes that Corcoran was "the only female on set" during the 10-plus hour shoot, which led her to be diagnosed with cranial swelling and eardrum damage due to hanging upside down. To add insult to injury, the complaint also points to merchandise that was subsequently sold bearing images of Corcoran's nude body, "which was obtained without her required informed written consent."****

Concerning Corcoran's financial claims, the lawsuit notes that Corcoran was paid her fair share of royalties for a time, but "when the film series' success started to grow exponentially and exceeded the producer's original expectations, the royalty payments became more and more sporadic and dwindled to amounts nowhere near commensurate with the revenues generated."

Indeed, *Terrifier*'s $420,000 gross on a budget of only $35,000 was impressive. But *Terrifier 2*, which followed in 2022, earned an astonishing $15.8 million on a $250,000 budget. Though Corcoran only appears in a still photo in one of the sequel's scenes, and not at all in last year's *Terrifier 3*, her contract ought to have guaranteed a percentage of the franchise's backend profits. But the complaint claims that Corcoran is owed far more than the roughly $8,000 she's been paid to date.

The lawsuit alleges that the producers of *Terrifier *violated a California civil code relating to the distribution of nonconsensual nude or sexual imagery. She is seeking a full accounting of the film's profits in order to put a number to the financial restitution claim.**

Zachary Quinto chose to boldly go *exactly* where he's been before Monday when his *Brilliant Minds* character, Dr. Oliver Wolf, dressed as *Star Trek*'s Spock for his Halloween costume.

Quinto, of course, played the famous half-human, half-Vulcan in the 2009 *Star Trek* movie, as well as in 2013's *Star Trek Into Darkness* and 2016's *Star Trek Beyond*.

"Live long and prosper," read the caption on a short video of Quinto's Wolf as Spock and his *Brilliant Minds* costar Tamberla Perry's Dr. Carol Pierce as Uhura, which Zoe Saldaña played the films.

Quinto was all about the nod to his earlier work, showrunner Michael Grassi revealed to TV Insider.

"We came up with the idea in the room, and when we brought it to Zachary, he was so excited to include this Easter egg," Grassi said. "If you listen carefully in that scene, you'll hear that the elevator also sounds different — another fun nod for *Star Trek* fans."**

Quinto has been open about his love for the role of Spock.

"It was an incredible experience," he said on *The Jennifer Hudson Show* in August. "But it's something, a role that was so iconic already. To take it over from Leonard Nimoy — the late, great Leonard Nimoy — with whom I got to become incredibly close friends, that was for me, the most meaningful part of the experience probably. The most helpful part of the experience was his support and guidance."

The two became "really great friends," he noted of the actor who is credited in the first two of the three movies. Nimoy died in 2015.

"I also became friends with all the actors that I worked with on that movie, and I love them all," Quinto said.**

"I have a few pairs of ears," Quinto revealed in an October 2020 interview with NPR. "I think it's probably in the ballpark of a dozen, because we've made three films now, and it was a new pair of ears every day on the movie. So, you know, it's not like they were going to miss them. And at the end of the day, they just cut them, they just shredded them and threw them away."

He decided that he should take a couple.

Now in its second season, his newer project takes place right here on Earth in a hospital. The medical procedural, inspired by the life of neurologist Oliver Sacks, follows Wolf as he struggles with his own mental health while trying to solve patients' health mysteries.

GREEN BAY, WIS. -- Despite three consecutive victories, the Green Bay Packers will be looking for even better consistency to keep them atop the NFC North when they host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Green Bay (5-1-1) is coming off a 35-25 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers, winning its third straight to remain a half-game ahead of the Detroit Lions in the division.

The Panthers (4-4) had their three-game winning streak snapped in a 40-9 loss to the Buffalo Bills, playing without starting quarterback Bryce Young, who returned to practice Wednesday.

After a shaky couple of weeks, the Packers bounced back after a bye with a 27-18 home victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, then rallied for a 27-23 victory at the Arizona Cardinals. Most recently, Green Bay overcame a 16-7 halftime deficit against Pittsburgh behind Jordan Love's record-setting performance to overshadow former franchise icon Aaron Rodgers.

Love passed for 360 yards and three touchdowns against Pittsburgh, completing 29 of 37 passes, including a franchise record-tying 20 straight completions in one stretch.

Tight end Tucker Kraft had seven receptions for a career-high 143 yards and two touchdowns. Christian Watson, returning from a torn ACL suffered in the final regular-season game in 2024, had four catches for 85 yards.

Back-up Emanuel Wilson ran for a team-high 61 yards on 11 carries, but leading rusher Josh Jacobs managed just 33 yards on 13 carries with a long run of 6 yards.

"We've just got to do a better job around him, making sure that he's got premium looks," Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday. "Some were playcalls, others were just we didn't block the right people."

The Packers defense is first in the NFL in yards per passing play at 5.38 and first in yards after catch with 3.85. Green Bay is third against the run at 78.9 yards per game.

Rashan Gary has a team-high 7.5 sacks and perennial All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons, acquired in a blockbuster trade with Dallas just prior to the regular season, has 6.5 sacks.

Defensive lineman Lukas Van Ness (foot), linebacker Nick Niemann (pectoral), and receiver Dontayvion Wicks (calf) did not practice Wednesday for Green Bay while Watson (knee) and Jacobs (calf) were limited.

Young, who missed the game against the Bills due to an ankle injury, returned to practice Wednesday. Veteran back-up Andy Dalton (right thumb) did not practice.

"Bryce had a really good day," Panthers coach Dave Canales said following practice Wednesday. "We're going to take it each day and try to push it a little bit more. Had a little bit of a modified mode at practice today, but he handled the load. Tomorrow, we'll push it again and we'll make a decision in the next couple of days, but he looked good."

Young has thrown for 184 yards per game with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions.

The Panthers are fifth in the NFL in rushing at 136.9 yards per game. Rico Dowdle has run for a team-high 605 yards at 5.7 yards per carry.

Rookie first-round pick Tetairoa McMillan has been the top receiving target with 37 catches for 512 yards. Xavier Legette is next with 19 receptions for 159 yards.

The Panthers had three starting offensive linemen out of Wednesday's practice. Right guard Brady Christensen suffered a season-ending Achilles injury against the Bills. Center Cade Mays (ankle/knee) and right tackle Taylor Moton (knee) also did not practice.

Safety Nick Scott (groin) and linebackers Princely Umanmielen (ankle) and Trevin Wallace (shoulder) sat out as well.

Green Bay has won three straight vs. Carolina. The Packers have allowed 24 or fewer points in 10 consecutive home games, the longest active home streak in the NFL.

The pair went on to form a romantic connection

In October 2025, the married couple welcomed their first child

KJ Smith and Skyh Black are both multihyphenates in the entertainment industry who met on the set of a TV show.

Smith and Black, who starred on BET'S Sistas together, connected once they were no longer filming, as there was a no-fraternization policy on set.

"Right off the bat, it was different," Smith told Essence in August 2023 of the relationship. "The first time we had our first phone conversation, he was always talking about the future, and mind you, we met during a pandemic ... I love hard, and I met the person who does the same thing."

The pair — who tied the knot in a September 2023 California wedding — collaborate off-screen, as well. They launched their own production company called Blackhouse Inc., where Black has served as creative director on several photo shoots, including a Mother's Day one featuring his wife.

"I'm a very ambitious guy, but now I got her next to me, and we love the hell out of each other," he told Essence. "There's no limits. I feel like limitlessness is on the other side of marriage."

In October 2025, Smith and Black welcomed their first child, Pryde JaNea Black. "I wake up every day and I'm just like, 'I have a little being that is here,' " Smith told PEOPLE. "She looks like a little angel. She's so precious."

Black and Smith met on the set of Tyler Perry's Sistas. She played the lead role of Andrea "Andi" Barnes, and he played Jacobi. However, it wasn't until after they stopped filming together that the two connected romantically.

"Once I got All The Queen's Men she actually shot me a DM and said, 'Hey, I didn't get a chance to get your number, but I just wanted to tell you, congratulations. If you need any advice, if you need anything like that, don't hesitate to reach out,' " he told Essence.

Black took her up on it and called her. "We had this beautiful three-hour conversation just about life, about navigating the industry," he said. "We're both from Florida, so we had that in common."

Black continued, "Then the next day we actually talked again about something and it went to a two-hour conversation. I'll be honest, I just said, 'Yo, can I take you out Saturday?' She was like, 'Sure.' "

They got engaged in 2021

For their first date, the pair had a picnic in Malibu, Calif. Smith and Black then started dating seriously.

The couple continued dating for 11 months before Black popped the question around the holidays in 2021.

After being engaged for a little over a year and a half, Smith and Black tied the knot on Sept 3. 2023, at The Malibu Dream Resort in front of 150 guests.

"Malibu was the place we had our first date, the location where we started this journey," Smith told PEOPLE in 2023 about the venue.

While planning their wedding, Smith proposed the idea of eloping in the mountains. "But then, when we started planning it, I got more and more excited about friends, family and loved ones being involved," she told PEOPLE.

"It turned into a very large wedding ceremony and I'm really happy we decided to do this because we were able to experience it with our family and friends," Smith added.

Some of their famous friends in attendance included Perry, Loni Love, Eva Marcille and Lil Rel Howery.

"Hands down best day of my life ❤️," Black wrote on Instagram, sharing a snippet of their ceremony.

They announced they were expecting their first child in May 2025

Black and Smith revealed in May 2025 that they were expecting their first child.

"I've been praying since day one that God blesses us with a healthy and happy baby," Black told Essence at the time. "I think I have pressure that I put on myself, especially now being a father, and I want my kid to look at me and say, 'Wow, that's my dad.' I want to make them proud of me."

Smith revealed to PEOPLE during the 2025 BET Awards red carpet that they are having a baby girl.

"He tells the baby good morning every morning and says, 'You're amazing. You're beautiful,' " she told the outlet. "He gives the baby positive affirmation. So it's a sweet little morning ritual we all have."

Near the end of October 2025, Smith and Black announced exclusively to PEOPLE that they had welcomed their daughter, Pryde JaNea, on Oct. 4. The couple were elated to share the news and said they couldn't believe they were parents.

"I get up. I walk around for three hours if she wants me to," Black said. "My gym workouts are a little bit longer because [I'm] staring at her videos that her mom sends me. She's perfect, man. She's so perfect."

Smith also shared about her traumatic birth experience, saying she hopes it empowers Pryde to know how strong she was in her first moments on earth.

"[The team was] patient and diligent with me, and per what I already knew, they let me know something was going on with the baby and her heart rate was dropping to dangerously low levels because of the circumstance that had happened in our home birth," she said. "And so I had my epidural and I had an emergency C-section."

The new mom concluded, "I can't wait to tell her birth story. I can't wait to just reaffirm to her that she is strong and that she's powerful and that there's a reason that she came into this world unscathed."
