The residents of Fairmont Crest are saying goodbye to one of their own, as Beyond the Gates hosts its first funeral after the passing of Doug McBride (Jason Graham). Now the show has released a first look at the repass.
Set to air on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Episode 145 sees Fairmont Crest set to mourn one of their own. In a first look photo released by the show, viewers see Dani (Karla Mosley) and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) at the Fairmont Crest Country Club where they are meeting Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) to offer their support.

In a second photo we see a disheveled Vanessa holding onto the flyer for Doug's funeral, talking to her best friends about her husbands passing.

Who is Doug and What Happened to Him?
Doug McBride, portrayed by, was a heart surgeon working at Garland Memorial. He was married to Vanessa and had twin children, Donnell (Alex Cheeks) and Deanna.
Doug's life wasn't as picturesque as one might believe. Doug and Vanessa had an open marriage, with Vanessa being the more 'open' of the two. While Vanessa's vice may have been sex, Doug found himself swept up spending his days drinking and gambling at Joey's illegal casino.
While Doug was getting deeper into Joey's world, so was his wife Vanessa, as she soon began an illicit relationship with the mobster. With Doug's gambling becoming a bigger problem, Vanessa's connection to Joey was getting stronger, but Doug's existence was proving to be an issue for Joey, thus he had to 'deal' with the problem.
Doug and Vanessa's last moments speaking to each other ended in a fight. While on a phone call, Doug overheard Joey being with Vanessa and completely snapped, demanding his wife to leave Joey, she explained to her husband they could talk at another time when he was calmer.
Then, in episode 137, which aired on September 24, 2025, Vanessa was on a mini vacation with local mob boss / lover Joey, when she got a phone call from local police officer Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges) with the news that her husband Doug had died, presumably, instantly after a drunk driving incident when he car went off the road and exploded.
