Hailey Bieber isn't offended by comments that she looks transgender. In fact, she's honored.

The 28-year-old entrepreneur made an appearance on the latest episode of the podcast, In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele, which dropped on Friday. During the interview, Bieber revealed that internet trolls have tried to offend her by comparing her physical appearance to that of someone who is transgender. What they actually did, Bieber said, was pay her a total compliment.

"When people are trying to be mean, they're like, 'She looks trans,' and I'm like, 'Why do you think it's a diss?'" Bieber told Thiele. "As if being trans is a diss? Or like, some of the most beautiful women in the world and men in the world are trans? So I just don't take that offensively at all."

While Bieber didn't recount any specific instances and the context around which the attempted diss was made, her fans have kept receipts over the years. Bieber, for instance, was once targeted by a TikTok creator who falsely claimed that she was transgender, while other users on X have accused Selena Gomez's fandom of bolstering this fabrication as well.

In 2023, Bieber joined LGBTQ celebrities and allies in signing an open letter to Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, which called for the end of "malicious" and anti-trans rhetoric on platforms like Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

She isn't immune to online hate, however. Bieber, while chatting with Addison Rae on her "That Was Fun?" podcast in 2021, opened up about how her body is constantly subject to criticism.

"Women go through so much with their bodies, and I feel like people just don't have any empathy with that," Bieber said. "It's like, 'Well, how do you know what is even going on with my body right now?' Birth control is wild, periods are wild, what if I'm PMSing?"

Bieber has also spoken candidly about her battle with postpartum body dysmorphia after giving birth to her son, Jack Blues, in August 2024, whom she shares with Justin Bieber. Showing herself grace, Bieber told Vogue for its summer cover story, was paramount for her mental health, though it wasn't always easy.

"Every day I have to talk to myself, like, Hailey, you had a baby," she said. "You grew a human. You birthed a human. It's okay. Give yourself grace. Give yourself time."

The Rhode Beauty founder added, "You're not the same personthat you were before. You change head to toe. And I think there was a minute where I kept really hyper-fixating on getting back to what I was. And then I had to go through that acceptance of, I'm not going back. So it's really about how do I want to move forward? Who do I want to be?"
