Sydney Sweeney is the latest celebrity to join the conversation around Botox and cosmetic enhancements
In a new interview with Variety, the Anyone But You actress revealed that she was encouraged to get Botox at age 16 when she was finding her footing in Hollywood
Later, she revealed that she's "absolutely terrified of needles" and plans to "age gracefully" while denying having any work done
Sydney Sweeney's early days of acting weren't always euphoric.
Speaking with Variety in a new interview published on Oct. 27, the Emmy-nominated actress revealed the criticism she was hit with about her appearance, particularly her "very strong eyebrow muscles," before making it big in Hollywood.
"I had someone tell me to fix my face or else I'm not going to make it. I should get Botox. I was 16!" the Euphoria star said. Sweeney went on to explain that she'd even get ignored during her calls. "Or I'm in a casting and I'm reading my scene and the casting director is eating a bag of chips, and I'm like, 'You're not paying attention at all.' "

Even now, at 28, Sweeney's outlook on cosmetic enhancements is firm and embracing of her natural beauty. "I've never gotten anything done. I'm absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing. I'm going to age gracefully," she told the outlet.
In her comments on those "comparison pictures" of herself floating around the internet, she said, "It's really funny.. I'm like, 'I'm 12 in that photo. Of course, I'm going to look different. I have makeup on now and I'm 15 years older.' "

Sweeney is the latest in a string of actresses opening up about their relationship with injectables and much more.
On the same day her interview with Variety came out, Jennifer Lawrence's sit-down with The New Yorker was also released, and in it, the No Hard Feelings star admitted that she's had Botox, but denied taking the plunge with a facelift (although it's not something she's opposed to).
Back in September, Amanda Seyfried said that, for filming The Testament of Ann Lee, she sacrificed Botox to play the period role with justice. "I couldn't get Botox for a year," she told Vanity Fair in an Aug. 26 interview. "That was a big assignment... When I first got [Botox], I was, like, 'This is amazing,' because I frown a lot. But then it all came back in a way that was absolutely necessary for all the work I was doing."
Joining Sweeney in the club of wanting to stay youthful without the help of Botox (at least for now) is Hailey Bieber, who recently opened up about her decision to forgo the injectable for cosmetic reasons until she's at least two years older.
"I made a commitment to myself that I wasn't going to do any Botox until I was in my 30s. When I get there, I'll see if I even want to do it," the model said in an episode of the In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele podcast.
